The Server, as a place

Every website I run lives on one machine. Nothing about it is public except a single tube coming down out of the sky. Click any building to see what it actually is.

Two roads leave the gatehouse. A request takes one and stops.
copper → nginx :80 → reads a file off the disk. 16 sites, no container.
blue → straight into a container’s own port. Its own web server builds the page. nginx never involved.
dashed → the one exception: nginx forwards a whole hostname on to a container.
